How to stay safe on long Pakistani drives
21 April 2026 · 4 min read
Carpooling is only as safe as the habits around it. The platform does the heavy lifting on identity and accountability. The passenger does the rest by knowing what to check before getting in the car. This is a short, practical list. Save it the first time you book.
1. Match the plate before you open the door
Every ride detail page on Doublesixride shows the driver's vehicle plate. Before you reach for the door handle, look at the plate. If it does not match, do not get in. Cancel the booking from /my-rides, walk away, and use the Contact page to report it.
2. Check the CNIC verified badge
A green CNIC verified badge on the driver's profile means we have personally reviewed their CNIC and selfie. We reject mismatches; we flag the account; we do not soften the bar. If a profile does not have the badge, you are choosing trust over verification. We recommend you do not.
3. Share your live location with someone
Open WhatsApp, find a family member, attach Live Location for the duration of your trip. Doublesixride has a one-tap "Share live location" button on /my-rides that pre-fills a heads-up message to the driver. The actual location share happens through WhatsApp's native share-location feature, which keeps your family aware of your dot on the map for the whole journey.
4. For women: use women-only rides
Female drivers can mark a ride as women-only. The database enforces it: the driver has to be female-gender on her profile, and only female passengers can book. Filter the search bar on /find-ride for "women only" if you prefer to ride with women drivers. The filter is honest, not a marketing label.
5. Trust your gut
If something feels off at pickup, it is. Ask the driver to stop at the next safe place. Get out. Find another ride. Use the Contact page to tell us what happened. We will refund any cancellation in this scenario, no questions, and we will follow up with the driver.
6. Pay the agreed amount, no surprises
The price you saw at booking is the price the driver gets. Do not let anyone change the price at pickup. If a driver tries, refuse, leave, and report. We have suspended drivers for exactly this.
Numbers to keep handy
Save these into your phone before any long drive in Pakistan, ride or no ride.
- 15: Police, any active threat to safety. Free from any number.
- 1099: National women's helpline. 24/7. Free from any number.
- 1124: Punjab Highway Patrol on M-2 / M-3 motorways.
Safe travel is a habit, not a feature. The platform exists to make the habit easier.
