The 5 most popular Pakistani intercity routes in 2026
26 April 2026 · 5 min read
If you watch the data come into our matching engine, the same five routes show up over and over. Some are obvious: Lahore to Islamabad is the M2 corridor and Pakistan's busiest intercity stretch. Some are less obvious: Karachi to Sukkur is a 470 km marathon that drivers post on weekends because there are almost no good public alternatives.
Here is the current top five, with current average prices on Doublesixride and what each corridor is like in practice.
1. Lahore to Islamabad
375 km · roughly 4 hours · average PKR 1,200 per seat
The M2 motorway is the country's smoothest stretch and the most reliable highway. Most drivers leave at 7am because the morning traffic out of Lahore is brutal after 8 and the M2 is at its emptiest before then. A Honda City with three passengers covers fuel and gives the driver something to spare. Find a Lahore to Islamabad ride.
2. Karachi to Hyderabad
165 km · roughly 2 hours · average PKR 800 per seat
The Karachi to Hyderabad commute is short by Pakistani intercity standards but it is heavy on traffic both ends. Drivers tend to leave Karachi early (5am or 6am) to beat the city. Sara K., one of our seed drivers, runs this route four mornings a week in a Toyota Fortuner. Find a Karachi to Hyderabad ride.
3. Lahore to Faisalabad
186 km · roughly 2.5 hours · average PKR 600 per seat
Faisalabad is a major industrial hub and a constant flow of business commuters connects it to Lahore. The M3 motorway has cut driving time significantly. PKR 600 a seat makes it one of the most affordable intercity carpool routes in the country. Find a Lahore to Faisalabad ride.
4. Islamabad to Peshawar
155 km · roughly 2 hours · average PKR 700 per seat
The M1 motorway is short, fast, and well-maintained. Islamabad-Peshawar is mostly business traffic in the morning and family travel on Fridays. Imran S., one of our seed drivers, runs this in a Honda Civic. Find an Islamabad to Peshawar ride.
5. Lahore to Multan
331 km · roughly 4 hours · average PKR 1,000 per seat
The M3 plus the M4 motorways make this one of the most efficient long routes in the country. Most drivers leave at 5am or 6am to beat the heat (Multan summers are no joke). Watch for women only rides on this corridor; it has one of the highest women only ride frequencies on the platform. Find a Lahore to Multan ride.
Bonus mention: Karachi to Sukkur. 470 km, 5.5 hours, average PKR 1,500 per seat. The longest of the popular routes, mostly weekend traffic, mostly families heading inland.
